Family Camp: Part 1

Somerset Beach Campground is one of the few places our family gets together. Everyone. Cousins, aunts, uncles, the whole shabang. This year, my family got to camp out there for 3 days. This is the first year we have camped, so we got really excited. The rest of our family always camps, so we couldn't wait to be with our cousins 24/7.

Like I said, being with cousins is probably our favorite part of camp.

Setting up our tent!!!! We were lucky because we got a BEAUTIFUL spot right next to the Kulaga's. We called last minute, so we couldn't believe we got a lot at all!

The finished product!

There was so much to do at Somerset. There always is! Biking,

swimming,

and taking the usual bathroom break.

On the beach at last!

We made TONS of creations on the beach. Our first major product was a hot tub.

My TV, I proudly made it all by myself, with maybe a little help from Sophie.

This is all my mom did. Tan and read.

Another of our many creations, a cupcake. Chocolate of course!!

Bon appetite!

When we finished "eating" the cupcake, we turned it into a salt shaker! And everyone knows salt is nothing without pepper....

And finally, the day we have all been waiting for, Wednesday, July 14, 2010.............

The Sandcastle Contest!!! Sophie, Beth, and I had been planning what we were going to do the minute school let out. A wedding cake. It was complete with 3 layers, flowers, pearls, white sand, and even people to go on top. It was just going to be us 3, but we decided to let James help because we needed his sculpting skills. About 25 minutes before the contest, Katelyn came up and asked if she could help. We conferred and said no, 4 people was enough. But then we discussed it again, and decided she could help because we needed her special sand glue. But then, Mylie came up and asked. We were getting really fed up with people asking to help. But, by then, who really cared? So Mylie joined the club. After Mylie, it was kind of a free-for-all. So Davis (Sadie's brother) and Aaron came to help. And from what I saw, they did a good job.

James making his "side pastries."

Adding the third layer.

The decorations,

and other minor details.

Finally, the finished product and the hard working team.

Mylie and Katelyn kind of ditched us to help poor Darby. Mylie was in tears because she wanted Darby's sand castle to turn out good. What a sweet sister!

Finally, the judges had come to a decision. We were all holding our breath. At least, I was. They announced a sandcastle. And then another. And we were all surprised at what that second sandcastle was. "THE WEDDING CAKE!" We freaked out. Here is the winning castle and it's hardworking bakers.
